How to Brew Tea in a Yixing Teapot

Brewing, drinking, and serving tea is considered an art form that brings peace and guests. In general, green teas are more delicate than oolong or black teas and should enjoyment. It is a formal event and used for the private enjoyment of tea as well as for welcoming be brewed at a lower temperature.

1. Boil enough water for rinsing out the teapot as well as brewing the tea.
2. Rinse the teapot with the boiled water.
3. Add the appropriate amount of tea leaves into the pot. There’s no need to rinse the tea leaves before doing so.
4. Pour a sufficient amount of water into the pot at the temperature required by the type of tea leaf used.
5. Place the lid back on the pot.
6. If necessary, more hot water may be poured on the outside of the pot to help maintain the temperature.
7. When the water on the outside surface of the teapot has evaporated, this indicates that the tea is ready. Evaporation normally occurs after approximately 2-3 minutes. Some tea leaves, such as oolong, may require longer infusing.
8. After brewing the tea, rinse the pot with hot water and allow the pot to air dry completely (damp teapots may grow mold and become ruined). Do not wash with soap, detergent, etc.
